First PCH homes outside Plymouth

Branching out into Devon and Cornwall

In 2018, we began building the first homes outside of the Plymouth city boundary. The 11 one-, two- and three-bed homes are located off Briar Tor, in Yelverton. Plymouth-based Classic Builders built the 43-home development. It created 32 properties for open-market sale, while we entered into contract for the remaining 11 as part of a Section 106 agreement. This means we offered them for affordable rent to people from Yelverton and the surrounding parishes of Meavy, Walkhampton, Horrabridge and Whitchurch on the Devon Home Choice register.

Tina Olver, PCH senior development officer, said: “This is a unique development for us. It’s the first one outside of the city boundary of Plymouth. The rental income we get from these homes will go straight back into investing in homes and services for our tenants in Plymouth and around. It’s great that we are well regarded by other planning authorities and builders as a potential partner in delivering homes.”

The PCH Development Board approved plans to extend our development area to within 30 minutes’ travelling time of Plymouth. This means we now have sites in Tavistock, Liskeard, Callington and Saltash, among other places.
