Lilly Gray at 103

Special birthday for Belmont Court resident

Belmont Court resident Lilly Gray celebrated her 103rd birthday, and was joined on her special day by fellow residents and staff. A buffet was held in the communal room and everyone had a slice of birthday cake, before staff presented Lilly with a bouquet of flowers.

Lilly, who has lived in her Stoke Village home for the past five years, puts her remarkable 103 years down to being a practicing Christian and not drinking alcohol. Born in Plymouth, she has always been involved with the local church and enjoys spending time knitting and completing crosswords, which she says helps keep her young.

She said: “I’ve had a lovely day with everyone, they’ve all been so kind, the cake was delicious.” Lilly spent the rest of her birthday celebrations seeing her family – which includes eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren!
