Pets Policy

Because your furry friends matter too!

Research shows that our nation’s love for pets is stronger than ever. Indeed, there are 27 million pets in the UK, while 43% of all households contain at least one furry, feathery or scaly family friend, making pets well and truly part of our lives.

We recognise that keeping animals is very important for a large number of our residents. There is no doubt that keeping pets can offer significant benefits to their owners, but irresponsible ownership can also cause problems and be the source of a major nuisance to others living nearby.

Our new Pets’ Policy aims to balance two sets of priorities. On one hand, we are looking to protect the animals owned by our residents and to keep the outside spaces clean and safe for children to play in, and for residents to enjoy. On the other hand, it is important not to impose unreasonable restrictions on those for whom a pet is an important member of the family.

Our Pets’ Policy has been produced following a detailed consultation process led by Plymfed, including residents and PCH staff. We hope that you will agree it provides clear, firm and practical guidance, promoting a flexible approach to managing pet ownership in PCH homes.
